it's just a little trim!

I'm not sure what it is about lil b not liking to get his haircut, but it is quite the struggle! I'm sure he is just expressing his independence- which is just predicting one of the many topics we will argue about when he becomes a teenager (woo hoo, can't wait.). I've been meaning to get his haircut for about a month now, but after being permanently scarred from our last experience, I procrastinated. It wasn't until last week when we went to dinner with Don and Dolores that pushed me to finally do it. As we were enjoying our dinner, a lady walked by and just ohh-ed and ahh-ed about how cute our little girl was. Due to the initial shock of the situation, I kept my mouth shut. I mean, he was wearing maroon, brown and khaki with puppy dogs etc...did he really look like a girl!? Don had a few choice words about the lady calling his grandson a little girl though...haha. So it was decided for me...lil b was getting his haircut ASAP.

Luckily, our neighbor, Mrs. Amanda was nice enough to give him a quick trim...little did she know what she was getting herself into!  We tried everything; favorite tv shows, having control of the remote, phones, cameras, toys, food, combs, you name it we tried it (well, except for scissors, although he wanted those pretty bad)...but nothing could keep lil b from resisting his haircut. It turned into me holding his face towards the tv while Amanda swiftly tackled his hippie hair. After about an hour and a few tears, lil b looked like a little boy again.

lil b in action!

Alright, alright... I've been a little slack about this blogging thing...same story, different week! As you all gathered from the last post, lil b had an ear infection and has been taking antibiotics for the past week. Lucky for us, he really enjoyed his medicine! Probably because it tasted like liquid bubble gum (yes, both the Big B and I had a lil sip :) ) And just to prove to you that our little guy takes his meds like a champ, I recorded a little snippet for everyone to enjoy....he even wants you to try it! Also take note that he now says "cheese" when the camera is present :) he will even chase you down until you say "cheese"!

lil b taking meds and cheezin':

Besides being an amazing kid all around, lil b is a fantastic eater...he grazes all day long and will try anything once...among his favorites are spaghetti, grapes, raisins, oranges, cous cous, apples and avacados! In fact, I think he may love avacados the most....here's proof (sorry that it's sideways...):

I'm not sure where he learned to lick the plate like that, but it's pretty darn cute (as a toddler...We will have to nip that around 4years :) )

For everyone that we haven't seen in awhile, I hope these videos suffice until our next visit! We miss and love all of you!

NEWS: LIL BLAKE SLEEPS IN HIS CRIB!

Well...blogging is a little more time consuming than I thought...and more technical! I am a "less is more" kind of person, so I am using only what this blogger thing offers versus trying to watch youtube videos of how to make a picture my background. So far so good...I don't think my blog looks too shabby!

Alright, let's catch up. So lil b has been at his daycare for almost two weeks and I must give my kid some credit- he is very adaptable to change! I am so proud of the way he handled the switch. And the best part- Rachel, the caretaker, has sleep trained him for naps! Which gave me the strength to finally remove lil b from our bed! I know, I know, you thought this day would never come (well I didn't either)! After a few fat lips, numerous bruises, and plenty of interrupted sleep patterns, we have transitioned lil b to his crib!!! And once again, I must commend my awesome child for adapting to this change as well! This is what we did:

We finally stuck to a routine....and although I treasure our family bed moments, I will start this routine thing way earlier with the next baby (don't hold me to this!). Lil b eats dinner, we play with whatever he wants (this is usually chasing Big B in and out of his tent and tunnel), he takes a bath (his new thing is to soak the momma!), then we have some milk and read books in his room- quietly. THEN I lay him down in his crib, say goodnight, and let him cry (the worst part ever)...but then he falls asleep and I reap the benefits of a full night's rest sans fat lips and bruises.  It's not rocket science, but it's just as tough :).
